Job Opportunities: Summer 2008 and beyond

FULL-TIME

Summer Program Director: The Summer Program Director is responsible to help plan and then carry out the operating goals and objectives of the Summer Tennis & Reading Program on a year-to-year basis.  In this role, he/she is responsible for the day-to-day management of the program including:  facilities and staff planning and hiring, curriculum planning, training, participant recruiting, third party negotiation and relationship management (including the city of Boston and other summer youth programs), budgeting, week-to-week supervision, and reporting. 

Site Coordinator – Academic Responsible, with Tennis Site Leader, for overall operation of youth development program serving 30-40 middle school students.  Additional responsibilities include recruiting students, implementing literacy and character development curriculum, recruiting volunteers, communicating with parents and school staff.

Site Coordinator – Tennis:  Responsible, with Academic Site Leader, for overall operation of youth development program serving 30-40 middle school students.  Additionally responsibilities include recruiting students, implementing tennis and character development curriculum, communicating with parents and school staff, supervising instructors.

Tennis Coordinator: East Boston: Work as a team with the Site Leader and Academic Coordinator to manage all aspects of the After-School Excellence Program (ASEP) at the East Boston site which serves 70 students at the Mario Umana Middle School Academy. 

Office Assistant: The Office Assistant will work closely with the President, while offering back-up administrative assistance to other departments including Operations, School Year and Summer Program, and Development to expand Tenacity’s operating activities.

FAO Schwarz Two Year Fellowship: The FAO Schwarz Family Foundation Fellowship program is a two-year fellowship program for recent college graduates designed to train future leaders in the education and youth development field and to strengthen high-quality youth-serving organizations.  The Fellows will work within established youth development and educational organizations providing both direct service to children/youth as well as initiating new projects, research, or programs that may involve public policy, organizational replication or sustainability efforts, or other new initiatives to strengthen the host organization.


PART-TIME

Tennis Instructors:  We are looking for part-time tennis instructors to assist in our ASEP (After School Excellence Program).  Provide tennis instruction within the Tenacity Tennis Curriculum to middle school students.  Under the leadership of the Tennis Coordinator, the Tennis Instructor will be responsible for running drills, games and activities while modeling and reinforcing life skills lessons.

Academic Assistants:  We are looking for part-time academic support to assist in our ASEP (After School Excellence Program).

SUMMER

Summer Program Site Reading Coordinator:  Responsible for coordinating reading activities for youth 7-14 at 1 or more sites;  7 week position June 30 - August 15, training June 23-27.

Tenacity Corps and Massachusetts Promise Fellowship

Youth Development Specialists:  Work as part of the After School Excellence Team at one site.  Responsibilities will include a number of the following areas:  tutoring students in literacy, teaching tennis, designing and leading youth development & leadership activities, building partnerships with teachers & parents, writing newsletters, organizing field trips & enrichment activities, helping students choose high schools.  (up to 20 positions)

Alumni Services CoordinatorUnder the direction of the Director of Alumni Services, this AmeriCorps VISTA member will help develop & implement new Alumni Services program for alumni from Tenacity’s After School Excellence Program including high school selection, job opportunities, tutoring, enrichment activities, college selection and financial aid.

Program Support SpecialistTenacity is looking for an energetic, creative individual to join our team as an AmeriCorps VISTA member as the Program Support Specialist.  This position will incorporate several different areas of responsibility.  The primary area of responsibility will be as the Volunteer Coordinator for Tenacity.
