During my three years at Tenacity, my family, friends, and teachers have seen a huge change in me.  My love for reading has expanded and I love tennis with a passion.  Tenacity has definitely made a huge impact in my life and I'm glad that I decided to join.  It's a place where you don't have to be afraid to love reading or just being yourself...

AMERICORPS SERVICE PROJECT 2008

ADVANTAGE; Boston! A Service Project SUCCESS!

Tenacity’s first annual Americorps day of service turned out to be very successful, thanks to the many individuals who participated. On Saturday, June 14th, about eighty five volunteers showed up to take part in a cleanup and renovation of three of Tenacity’s summer program sites- Ringer Park in Allston, English High in Jamaica Plain, and Carter Playground in Roxbury. A mixture of corporate volunteers, members of the local communities, and members of the Tenacity community, these individuals spent their Saturday afternoon raking, scraping, sweeping, painting, planting and much more. By the end of the day, each of the sites donned a new, vibrant coat of paint on benches and walls, planters with flowers, moving murals on canvas, as well as poles and painted doves carrying messages of peace. Tenacity sends a huge thank you to all who took part. Your presence made our summer sites far more enjoyable for our kids, and also proved the potential of teamwork and enthusiasm to make a positive impact on our community. We hope to see you and even more people next year!
