Middle School Academy (MSA)

Working in close partnership with the Boston Public Schools, Tenacity’s Middle School Academy (MSA) delivers an intensive three-year program gearing students toward high school readiness.  MSA integrates literacy-based programming and supervised tennis activities and a wellness curriculum in a structured, supportive environment.

Our academic enrichment includes homework assistance, family engagement and an intensive high school selection and application program for 8th graders.  Our literacy curriculum is aligned with state and city English Language Arts Frameworks and aims to prepare our students for future academic success.  Physical fitness is delivered via tennis instruction and tennis team competition combined with a fitness and nutrition curriculum to combat childhood obesity.

Our activities focus on building resilience among young people facing challenges on the path to adulthood.  With heavy emphasis on education as the vehicle to a successful life, Tenacity is proud to see its students' breaking through the achievement gap, graduating from high school, and pursuing post-secondary education.

WE GET RESULTS!

Since 1999, MSA has helped hundreds of urban youth succeed against difficult odds in challenging environments and we have set short-, medium-, and long-term goals to measure our own progress.

95% of MSA graduates have either successfully graduated from or are still enrolled in high school, compared to a district-wide 30% high school drop-out rate. The majority of our students move on to higher education.
